One-on-One Flight Instruction, Tailored to You.
During your Discovery Flight, you’ll have the opportunity to take the controls yourself! I will walk you through the essential pre-flight inspection and help prepare the aircraft for takeoff. Then, with guidance, you’ll experience the thrill of flying the airplane firsthand.
You wouldn't buy a car without a test drive - so why should a flight school be any different?
Take advantage of this introductory flight lesson to get a front seat view to see if my teaching style is right for you.
Once you have decided that you want to become a pilot and fly with me, it is time to work together to arrange a flight schedule that will work around your work or school demands, as well as your financial needs.
Once you begin, my flight training course follows an FAA approved Private Pilot Certificate Course. This outline provides a logical, structured sequence that maximizes learning and meets 14 CFR part 61 training time requirements.
During this phase, the student becomes familiar with the training aircraft and learns how to use the flight controls to establish and maintain specific flight attitudes. The student will develop the necessary proficiency to safely solo the aircraft within the traffic pattern and local practice area.
Stage Completion Standards:
By the end of this stage, the student will have demonstrated proficiency in all maneuvers required for solo flight. Additionally, the student will have successfully completed a solo flight.
In this stage, the student will learn to navigate to nearby airports using pilotage techniques. Training will also cover diversions, lost procedures, and how to plan alternative routes if the intended flight cannot be completed. Additionally, the student will practice maximum performance takeoffs and landings.
Stage Completion Standards:
By the end of this stage, you will perform to a level that meets the performance standards required for a Private Pilot Certificate (ASEL) and fly solo away to another nearby airport.
This stage expands on key areas of aviation knowledge required for a Private Pilot. The student will develop skills in navigation, cross-country flying, night operations, and controlling the aircraft using only instrument references.
Stage Completion Standards:
Upon completing this stage, the student will perform to a level that meets the standards for a Private Pilot Certificate. You'll be ready to take your FAA checkride and receive your Private Pilot License!
The Final Step to Becoming a Pilot.
At the end of your flight training, you’ll take three tests to earn your license: a written test, an oral exam, and a flight test. The oral and flight test happen together on the same day with a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), and this is what we call a “checkride.” The DPE will sit down with you and ask questions about things you’ve learned during training to make sure you understand the material. After that, you’ll head out to the plane and show them you can handle basic maneuvers like takeoffs, landings, stalls, emergency descents, and more.
When it’s all done, and you’ve shown them you’re ready, the DPE will shake your hand and say the words you’ve been waiting for: “Congratulations, you are a pilot.”
