One-on-One Flight Instruction, Tailored to You.

Get to the airport early so you’re not rushed. Bring all your required documents: pilot certificate, logbook, test endorsements, ID, and any paperwork your instructor told you to have. Double-check that the aircraft is ready and the weather is good.
You’ll start with a sit-down conversation with the Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). This is where they’ll ask you about topics like airspace, weather, flight planning, and regulations. It’s not designed to trick you! They just want to see that you understand how to make safe decisions as a pilot.
Next, you’ll head to the plane. The DPE will act like a passenger while you handle the flying. They’ll ask you to perform maneuvers like takeoffs, landings, slow flight, stalls, ground reference maneuvers, and emergency procedures. If you make small mistakes, don’t panic—what matters is safe flying and good decision-making.
Remember, you’ve already done all of this in training. Take a breath, stay ahead of the airplane, and think out loud if it helps. The DPE is rooting for you to succeed.
After landing, you’ll debrief with the DPE. If you’ve met the standards, you’ll hear those magic words: “Congratulations, you are a pilot.” That moment is one you’ll never forget.
